Now on View – From Matisse to Warhol: Works on Paper by Modern Masters

From Matisse to Warhol encompasses many of the most revered artists of the 20th century, including Picasso, Dali and Chagall.  Featuring works never before seen by the public, the exhibition draws on the impressive Western section of Dr Farjam’s extensive private art collection.  Divided into two sections, the exhibition begins by unfolding a visual narrative on the changing role of paper over the course of the 20th century, when paper came to be considered as a medium capable of producing finished works in their own right.  The second section of the exhibition looks at the more traditional role of paper as a preparatory medium, with the rare opportunity to compare preparatory sketches with finished sculptural pieces.

Dr Farjam Speaks on Panel at Abu Dhabi Art Fair

AbuDhabiArt1

Dr Farjam’s passion for his collection shone through as he took part in the panel discussion Collecting Then & Now at Abu Dhabi Art.  Organized by New York University, Dr Farjam joined Roger Mandle, Head of the Qatar Museums Authority, and Larry Gagosian, the gallerist who represents some of the world’s leading artists.  The panel offered the public insight into Dr Farjam’s impressive collection and furthered The Farjam Collection @ DIFC’s ongoing commitment to education.  Thank you to all those of you who attended.

School Programmes Spell Success

lfThe Farjam Collection in collaboration with START was delighted to host the first groups of children and students taking part in School and University Programmes.  School children enjoyed the opportunity to learn about and draw selected works on display through tailor-made activity sheets.  One teacher from Little Flower English School commented “they enjoyed the drawings…and the whole trip!”  University students were treated to personalized guided tours of the exhibition and the chance to appreciate the works in their own time.  Zayed University’s Associate Professor of Art & Design thanked the Farjam Collection and START for “a fantastic guided tour[and] fruitful after-tour activity – everyone was very helpful and informative…cheers!”
