Rupture into Light

The Farjam Foundation is proud to present Rupture into Light, a solo exhibition of major works by Lebanese artist Marwan Sahmarani. It traces the journey of this key contemporary Arab artist whose visceral works emerge from the intersections of identity, conflict, and renewal. Born in wartime Beirut in 1970, Sahmarani embodies Lebanon’s complex cultural tapestry—where Mediterranean modernism meets Arab heritage. His bold, gestural technique channels both the physicality of Abstract Expressionism and the emotional turbulence of Lebanon’s history. Rupture into Light invites viewers to an immersive experience of this artist’s dynamic odyssey toward illumination, affirming the enduring resilience of the human spirit. The exhibition includes never-seen-before Studies, and the iconic Collision I work, as well as the powerful Solitude of Lightning. It will be open from Tuesday, November 11, 2025, free to the public, and accompanied by a catalogue.
